We meet again!
Who doesn't love a good rom com every once in a while? I know that I do. They're great to read when you're in between the murder mysteries, high fantasy novels, and everything else that can weigh kinda heavy. These books are a fun escape and there's nothing wrong with wanting to escape and watch someone else fall awkwardly in love every once in a while. It helps us deal with our garbage. Here's 12 romance books on my shelves I recommend. (In no order) Here we go :)
1. The Best Laid Plans by Cameron Lund. So this one is still more YA than an adult read (but why not YA?) it follows Keely, who is tired of being the only virgin left in her group. It seems like a good idea to talk her best guy friend into taking her virginity. She trusts him and it would be great practice for mr. right. What could go wrong?
2. Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert. Okay, so I just recently found out that there are two more books after this one and the others are for sure on my Amazon list now. In this one, Chloe decides to not let her chronical illness get so much in her way anymore and wants to REALLY live. She enlists the help of Red, the sexy tattooed handyman, to complete this list, and who says they can't also have fun in the meantime?
3. The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. Take a bad case of food poisoning and mix it in with a bride and groom not being able to enjoy their honeymoon. What's the solution? Have the best man and maid of honor take the honeymoon together. The catch? They can't stand each other. However, the honeymoon is such a great vacation and neither of them want to miss out. They decide they can't tough it out to enjoy paradise, even though they'll definitely for sure still hate each other after. Right?
4. The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez. This one also has two subsequent books that follow right after that I highly recommend. The Friend Zone is the first installment, and it genuinely surprised me how much I loved it. Meet Kristen, a bold as hell woman that meets an amazing guy at possibly the right exact time. Except Kristen doesn't think she can have kids due to medical complications, and Josh is desperate for a big family some day. She pushes him away to "save" them both, but man is he irresistible.
5. Tweet Cute by Emma Lord. Pepper and Jack have never necessarily gotten along. Their families are rivals in their respective food businesses and the two get sucked into the rivalry when they both start running the family business' twitter accounts. Scathing tweets directed at one another stir real life feelings that neither really know how to contend with.
6. Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi. Sam and Penny cross paths when both are at crossroads in their lives. Penny is just starting college and wishing to reinvent herself while Sam is sleeping in a storage room above the cafe he works at and desperate to upgrade his life. The two exchange numbers and begin texting each other nearly all the time, finding comfort in the small screens of their phones and leaving their awkwardness behind.
7. Amy & Roger's Epic Detour. Okay, I love Morgan Matson. I have read quite a few of her books and they're always the right mix of cute, heartfelt and emotional. Amy has to get her family vehicle from California to Connecticut because her mom decided to relocate them. Roger, an old family friend, volunteers to take the journey with her. Amy and Roger spend the trip re-learning all about one another, baggage and all, and liking what they find.
8. 10 Blind Dates by Ashley Elston. I've always loved books with big families that are all up in each other's business, because I never experienced it myself. Sophie, fresh on the heels of heartbreak, decided to spend Christmas at her grandparents house where her WHOLE family also is. They decide that certain family members get to sign Sophie up for ten blind dates to see who can find her the one for her. But is the one she really wanted closer than she knew?
9. Chasing Lucky by Jenn Bennett. Jenn is another beloved author of mine. I own at least four or her novels and were just in love with each of them. Josie is spending some time in her New England hometown after many, many years away, helping her nomad mom run the family bookstore. She runs into town bad boy Lucky, who's grown up a LOT. Josie has a plan and she knows what she wants out of life, and getting caught up with someone like Lucky won't help. So why is he so dang irresistible?
10. Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett. I told you I love her, I can't be blamed for putting back to back books by her. Birdie has always longed for and loved mystery, and when she lands a job at a historic hotel, she meets Daniel. He's cute, he's charming, and he thinks he has a mystery that they can solve together about a reclusive novelist. Them getting to spend so much time together is just one of the perks of mystery solving.
11. Loveboat, TaiPei by Abigail Hing Wen. Ever Wong is way off base when she expects her summer away to an educational program in Taiwan. Where Ever was expecting strict rules and work, work, work, she finds a group of kids that know how to live and aren't afraid to do just that. This is just what Ever needs to figure out exactly the person that she wants to be, and maybe give her the courage to be that person.
12. Maybe This Time by Kasie West. West is another author that I dove right into. I have read a decent grip of her books and now own a few. In this one, Sophie is busy working for the local florist, attending weddings, funerals and more. Andrew is the son of a fancy new chef in town and Sophie is less than impressed by him. They are thrown together at event after event and both start to discover that maybe there's more to each other than what initially met the eye?
